Skype to Launch Service on iPhone & BlackBerry

Tomorrow, at the CTIA annual mobile showcase in Las Vegas, Skype plans to launch its service for iPhone users by way of a free application and the same service will be available in May for BlackBerry devices. People who bought an iPod Touch starting in September of 2008 that had a microphone will also be able to make Skype calls. Early adopters who have a Touch from 2007 are left out in the cold.
The iPhone application will allow free calls between Skype users and will charge for calls made to traditional phones. According to Skype COO Scott Durschslag, ""The No. 1 request we get from customers is to make Skype available on iPhone. There's a pent-up demand."
This is clearly good news for avid Skype users and the new exposure the service will get from from multiple markets would mean continued innovation from Skype moving forward.
