Team Typhoon and group lead Davee have made good on their promise to deliver a properly working version of the universal homebrew enabler known as ChickHEN, initially released yesterday. For those in need of a refresher, this enables homebrew support on firmware 5.03 for all PSP revisions, including the PSP-3000 and TA-088 v3 equipped 2000 units.
Despite being hampered by bugs the first time around, R2 turns the tables with proper, fully-functional homebrew support. Users are advised to stick to using 3.X kernel based applications, as older legacy software based on the 1.5 kernel will have issues with running from within the HEN environment.

I have had great success on my phat by
Copy ChickHen folder to photo folder
Copy eggsploit.tiff to photo folder
Boot the psp clean. Then flick the power switch to suspend, then flick back on and go to photo folder, instantly hen is enabled on my phat!!!!

hello evry 1 the chicken exploit load only when you go to the map chickhen and don;t scroll in the map. When you scroll than the psp willl stuck en drop off
i found a way that the chicken exploit load for sure that is that when you go to photo in the xbm and go in to the map of the chicken exploit wait till i couple of eggs are displayed the exploit load on his own when you scroll in the map of chicken exploit and the psp drop of and do nothing i hope i give inoff info good luck with it thx for the exploit davee and team

Hey everyone, i've been visiting this site about every hour or so regarding this breakthrough.
I seem to have a problem.. I updated the patch to the official firmware 5.03 and placed the h.bin in the root.
I've then placed the tiff file into the PHOTO album as stated in the instructions, but after I tried viewing it through the PSP, it freezes and restarts normally. I then tried placing the ChickHENa-d.gif into the PHOTO album as well and again tried to view it and the eggs load but when it got to the tiff file it freezes and shuts off.
Am I doing something wrong? please help i've been waiting 5 months for this to happen :(

Great job Davee, I'm psyched to see the official version up. I'm glad you're sticking to your guns on the cso/iso issue. Piracy-free homebrew is a wonderful thing.
As SchmilK said, I get the HEN loaded first time every time on my 3000 by following this pattern:
1) Turn on PSP
2) Go in suspend mode
3) Come back from suspend
4) Go to Photos
5) Open Memory Card
6) Wait without scrolling.

copy the map chickhen exploit puth it the map psp make a map photo and than copy the chickhen map to it
when you are in the xbm in photo don't scrolll in the map of chickhen xploit wait till you see al eggs

Davee, GREAT WORK, works on my JP PSP and happy with that.
Can you set the HEN to work even if the Character code was set to Japanese. I have to set it to English to get it to work actually...

not workin' for me... i've tried all the solutions from these forums and from psp3000 hacks, nothing works. my 3000 freezes and reboots normally. the funny thing is that version 1 of chickHEN loaded fine for me, but like everyone else, froze when trying to load a homebrew. i've got the whole chickHEN folder in photos, tried resetting to default settings, erasing the browser history, soft/hard resets, the works. maybe it's cause i have a japanese final fantasy 20th aniv. ed. psp3000? i even changed the languages... aie ya, i'm ready to give up (>_<) any [new] ideas?

First off all, thank you to everybody who has put effort into this project. Lots of people were waiting for this.
Secondly, do we need to install any emulators to run homebrews or just the HEN will be enough on psp 3k? e.g to run super mario do I need to have nintendo emulator?

Tried all methods on my PSP 3K and none works.
Sometimes it makes the noise and just shuts down.

That's great Davee! At first, when i put the folder into PSP/PHOTO, it didn't work! But then I just put the slim.tiff at the root of PSP/PHOTO and it worked!

i upgraded from 5.00m33-6( on my GOW 2001 ta088v2 psp ) so i can do HEN testing. ive tested apps and emulation. GeMP(GBC emu) does not work nor does 1.50 emulation or homebrew. but 4 those who didnt want 2 mess w/ pandora battery and mem stick, ur in luck! Hellcats flash recovery V1.50 works!! (DONT USE ON 3K or ta088v3 motherboard!!!! IT WILL BRICK!!!!) ne way i used hellcat flash recoveryV1.50 w/ 5.00.PBP(MUST HAVE AN UPDATE FILE) on this HEN and flashed back 2 5.00m33-4. im not responsible if u brick ur psp. i just wanted 2 test installin cfw w/o a pandora battery.

i'm using a SanDisk MSPro Duo, 2GB MagicGate... dunno if it's the problem, since it's the only MS i have... still nothing though, placed the entire folder in photo, just the chickHEN folder's contents, just the .TIFF file, tried the .TIFF file in MS_ROOT, restored factory settings (even set the language to japanese)... nothing... but still, props to davee for getting some people the homebrew experience
oh yeah, and if it works for you, donate to davee. even if it didn't, donate! donate, donate, donate! freeware developers need money more than big corporate developers!!! O(^_^)O
and to those asking for a ISO version, STOP IT! DAVEE ALREADY WENT INTO THAT AND NO! PIRACY IS BAD, GET A JOB AND BUY THE GAME (or steal some money from mommy and daddy, but not from the people who gave you the game for you to get the ISO from, otherwise they won't make the games anymore, and you won't have any new ISO's to pirate because the developers decided piracy killed their industry... you may think that's unlikely, but then again it is unlikely that terrorists with boxcutters could take over an airplane, and look where things are now... er... sorry... apologies, peeps)

sooo... just a thought... if the .tiff file is basically creating the eggsploit file, why can't we just throw that into the .rar file and unrar it to MS_ROOT? maybe that was covered in a different thread (or the faq...)
zillionth try... relocating the .tiff file back to /PSP/PHOTO with everything else in the chickHEN folder, and coldstarting with the UMD door open, with default settings... then trying new combinations with the door open
