Koller Blames Pandora Battery Hack for Lack of Removable Battery on PSPgo

In case you hadn’t noticed from product photos and the like, the PSPgo lacks a user removable battery. Meaning, it can’t be replaced unless the unit is sent back to Sony, or you are a daring soul that doesn’t mind voiding the warranty.
The long and short of it is that this design decision was made solely in prevention of piracy. While Sony seemingly did a sound enough job of blocking the infamous Pandora battery hack on PSP-3000 units, it wanted to take things a step further with the PSPgo. SCEA marketing man John Koller explains:
You won’t be able to rip your games and play them on the system, the firmware precludes that, Koller explained. There’s no external battery, so there’s a number of protections put into place on the system.
Considering the situation at hand, we can understand the motivation behind this decision, but all things considered, this is stepping into the territory of punishing legit end-users for the nefarious actions of pirates.

I blame Sony for allowing their console to be exploited so much, like I exploited ALL UR MOTHERS.

Now what will we do when the battery only lasts an less than an hour?
Wow.
August 31st, 2009 at 11:48 pm
Wow.
If it's under warranty it will be free, if not you will have to pay to send it back, like I sent ALL UR MOTHERS.

@AndyMosh:
Not sure what trip you're on, but stop the crap stuff in your posts.
Consider this an official warning before your posts are history....

I honestly doubt Sony cares how long your battery lasts.

Well, not everyone pays 50 bucks or w/e for a extended warranty, and the battery will likely start failing after the limited warranty period ;)
You really need to stop. Here is a scale to illustrate how funny I, and I am assuming several others, find your comments to be:

Yah, they couldn't care less, but if it lasts (much) less than the officialy said word it's a warranty issue and they will (have to) fix it for you free of charge.

Who wants to buy this peice of shit anyways? its going to be cover in dust a year later. same as the regular PSP.
Sony needs to fix their library of PSP games first.
September 1st, 2009 at 3:13 am
What's wrong with the PSP library? There are a bunch of good games for it now. To say otherwise is just ignorant. It's been released for long enough now.
September 1st, 2009 at 10:45 am
The game library doesn't really fancy me anymore.
The only game I play now is Monster Hunter Freedom Unite.
Anyways, I will be getting this most likely. I really don't care about piracy for this console anyways.

It has been fixed for quite a while Mr 2005.

Too true.. The PSP doesn't have many game but it has enough good ones.

Now I am DEFINITELY not getting one. I was considering it as its physically optimized to carry around like a music player.
I ALWAYS carry my second Phat battery with me everywhere I go since I usually play for 4-5 hours a day, and need a few more hours of music.
No effin way without a swappable battery.
