Xbox 360 Dashboard Preview Sign Ups Are a Go

Keeping true to its promise, Microsoft has launched sign-ups for the upcoming Xbox 360 dashboard update, which features the integration of prominent social network services such as Twitter, Last.FM, and Facebook all under one roof.
As usual, only a selected number of individuals are being chosen for the beta test, but with Major Nelson noting that Microsoft is looking for “multiple thousands of participants,” it sounds like your chances of scoring an invite are high. Additionally, while any 360 owner can register, priority is being given to Gold members.
Further details on how to apply for consideration can be found over at Microsoft’s official Xbox site. Make it quick, as acceptance emails will show up in the inboxes of those chosen within a week.

I think I'm gonna sit this one out. Although this update will be interesting. I wanna see how Facebook will work.

We want has many Xbox LIVE Members in the #XboxLIVE Preview program as possible. Don't worry if you didn't sign up yet. We've got room!
I think the chances of getting in are decently high
Also I'm not liking whats on the apps so far.
Hopefully they will add in-game screenshots like they've said. And also, last.fm not being able to play in-game? Whats up with that.

I just updated, and as expected very lackluster.
In Facebook you can only change your status, comment on other peoples status, and look at their photo albums. You can't post on anybodies wall, or even comment on a photo.
In Twitter, pretty much everything is there except for lists, deleting tweets, checking direct messages and mentions.
Last.fm is hidden because I live in Canada and they hate us for some unknown reason (only available in US/UK)
Zune Marketplace (Canadian) at least has more content than the old Canadian Marketplace. But it's still pretty empty, and the only available shows cost 130MS (except for the 1 free episode of the Hills Preview hosted by MTV Canada which was pretty blurry on my HDTV).
Nothing can run in the backround, so no autotweets on acheivements or anything else interesting. If you didn't get in, you are not missing anything at all.

Here's my thoughts on the update.
Twitter - Basic, but pretty similar to how the site operates. Can't see myself using it much on the 360, but still nice for anyone who is an addict.
Last.FM - All the functionality of the website is there. Scrobbling is there, you can listen to your personalized stations, random playlists, band playlists, anything of the sort. Can definitely see myself using this a bit. Currently had errors with scrobbling however, so I hope that gets ironed out.
Facebook - Is a bit too basic, but leaving out wall functionality and such like that. However, you CAN comment on others photos unlike what was said above. To comment on one's status you have to do it through the news feed as well and can't do it from their profile itself which is a bbit odd.
Overall, it's a decent update. Improvements can still be made all around, but not a bad start for expanding the 360 into a much more social networking friendly device.

I went back to check. Seems a lot of my friends were tagged from people who aren't on my facebook, which would explain why I couldn't comment on them. Unfortunately, on the 360 is doesn't mention who's album it is, and puts everything in the same section.
But you are correct, as long as you are friends with whoever uploaded the photo you can comment on them (same are PC facebook).

It is an OK update.
I have to reason to complain about Microsoft adding new features, I'm sure some people will enjoy them.
I like the addition of last.fm the most.

Yeah, I definitely see last.fm being the most popular part of the update here, however with the inability to use it outside of the app itself, I see it getting a lot of negative comments as well.
Also, I just wish that the dashboard would become more organized again. Everything is starting to become more and more scattered, and less concise with all these updates, making it more annoying to get to the app you want in a quick and easy manner.
