Sony: PSPgo Still Performing Above Expectations, Greater Focus on Digital in 2010

According to SCEA hardware marketing director John Koller, PSPgo sales are still "over-forecast" from what the company thought they would be. While maintaining steady support in the retail sector, Sony plans to sharpen its focus towards digital distribution in 2010. Sony acknowledges the fact that some publishers have been slow to make the jump to digital -- Square Enix anyone? -- and is in the process of laying down the groundwork to encourage third-parties to release simultaneously on both distribution fronts.
So, there's a few things that we're looking at for the PSP Go, but the most critical thing is that we're fighting to ensure that we get parity on launch dates. We've noticed that has been one area for PSP Go owners that they've asked about, since they want to be able to get their titles at the same time as the "physical goods" consumer, the PSP 3000 consumer. That's one area that we're going to continue to emphasize. We are making plans for it and have launched that strategy on the first-party side, but we're going to emphasize that for third-party. It makes sense. I think that given the type and sheer amount of consumers that believe in digital distribution, we need to ensure that they get their games when they want them.
It boggles my mind that these logistics were not worked out beforehand to ensure there would be no delay in getting product out on PSN versus retail channels. A colossal oversight by Sony. Nevertheless, PSPgo owners must find it reassuring to hear that steps are being taken to rectify the issue. It's an important stride towards making the digital consumer not feel like they're being treated unfairly.

PSPgo is very good whatever people might think about it. Here in the EU PSP users already have gotten 5 free games from Sony with their PSPgo. It's a very good deal for 250€

There really aren't that many people hating on the device it seems. Just a bunch of loudmouthed people, like usual.

I'm not hating on the PSP GO! but I do dislike some things about it.
First of all; the price. €250,- is just way too many. Especially now the Xbox is €150,-.
Second: the hardware. The graphics are outdated. Even the iPhone's performance is better.
And last: Games. There are just to little good games for the PSP out there. I don't like spending €250,- for a console without enough good games.
If the games were cheaper and the console was cheaper, it would be a good deal.
