Final Fantasy XIII Runs “Just as Smoothly” on 360 as on PS3

When Square Enix shocked the world at E3 2009 announcing that one of their most anticipated titles of this generation, Final Fantasy XIII, will be made available on the Xbox 360 the world met the announcement with skepticism and a lot of questions. With a title that was supposedly being designed exclusively for the Playstation 3, how could it hold up on what is seen as an “inferior” console with limited storage and processing power. However we have recently learned that the Xbox 360 version was being developed simultaneously with the Playstation 3 version of the game in Japan and as such has not suffered any of those “second-hand port” symptoms that have plagued many games of this generation.
The guys over at 1up, Jeremy Parish in particular, had the opportunity of playing the Xbox 360 demo, and has noted in his blog entry that the Xbox 360 version “runs just as smoothly on 360 as it does on PS3”. This serves as great news to Xbox 360 owners as their version of the game will not suffer performance-wise and the only "downsides" will be compressed audio and disc-swapping (both of which are minor in my opinion).

Yeah, I love how smooth it is to have the game stop and have to insert a new DVD at least two times throughout the game.

seriously, are you such an lazy ass? lol

We have dealt with that for an entire console generation (PS1), it's not that big of a hassle and is just a simple complaint shared by many that really is warranted/that big of an issue. It's doesn't require too much more effort than it would to turn the console on and off. It's a small price to pay for a great game

Swapping discs is more fun than mandatory loads like on MGS4.

Yeah disc swapping is not an issue. I am not lazy like some people I guess.
As frozen said, disc swapping for such an awesome game is a small price to play.

This. The mandatory installation sequences for MGS4 were ridiculous. There was like 3 install points and each took around 20 minutes. Thankfully FFXIII will be void of these. Anyway, swapping discs takes like what, 10 seconds of your time if that? No big deal. Anyone that says otherwise is just a butthurt fanboy.. no offense.

Now lets see if it sells as smoothly on the 360.

LOL
But seriously people care way too much about defending their console or whatever.

I don't think anyone is trying to defend their system, your post was just dumb. If anyone is getting defensive about anything it's you. If you're unable to get up and insert a new disc then you're just extremely lazy. It's not like you're getting up every 30 minutes to put in a new disc.

I agree. If this were GameFAQs his post might have merit, as the fanatical fanboys over there go back and forth about things like this all day, but not here.
In North America the Xbox 360 has an exponentially higher software attach rate, so it's hard to say. Given that Final Fantasy is still largely associated with the PlayStation brand however I'd say the odds are in Sony's favor.

Since it is a single player experience I may purchase it on the PS3 since I have both consoles at my disposal. If it had any multilayer aspect the 360 would be my choice but as you've said x3sphere Final Fantasy and Sony go hand-in-hand.

i wonder if square enix will put out any dlc in the future since both consoles support that capability, i personally hope so, but i guess we'll have to wait to find out
