by Moose on Feb.18, 2009 at 9:02 am, under Computer Software, Consumer Electronics, Gaming

For those of you who own a device running Google's Android platform - namely the T-Mobile G1 - and enjoy Guitar Hero on it's many other platforms will be glad to hear that the game has been announced as an upcoming application to the Google Android store, a rival to Apple's App Store. The price has yet to be confirmed however.
The game will consist of songs produced by the famous Guns N Roses and Deep Purple among other artists. Songs such as the favourites Smoke On The Water and Welcome To The Jungle will be present in the game for you to release your fingers upon.
For those of you who aren't familiar with the game, the players aim (on the Android platform) is to 'strum' along to the tunes being played by tapping the at the correct time on the screen. The further you progress in the game the harder and more sophisticated the songs become.

Phone Manufacturers Agree on Universal Charger
by Moose on Feb.17, 2009 at 7:07 pm, under Consumer Electronics, Other

It's a problem that I am sure has occurred in most of our lives - you're at a friends, your phone battery runs low and needs a charge, but you've left your charger at home. You ask around only to find that no one in the house has the same phone as you.
However, I'm sure you will be glad to hear that in the run up to 2012 the top phone manufacturers around the Globe have agreed on an eco-friendly universal phone charger for all phones.
Not only does this mean you can be safe in knowing that when you charge your phone you are contributing much less to global warming than if you were using a unique phone charger (does anyone worry about this anyway?), but also that you will never have to lug around your phone charger again, be afraid of forgetting it, or even have to worry about not being able to contact a friend or family member because your phone has ran out of juice.
The article states that the universal charger will use a "mini-USB plug" and will consume "half as much energy when on standby" than those that are currently in use by the majority of mobile phone chargers.

[RELEASE] Game Categories Revised
by Moose on Jan.27, 2009 at 2:01 pm, under Gaming, PSP Homebrew, PlayStation Portable
Not long after informing M for Mature of an upcoming release to his Game Categories plugin, Bubbletune has released his plugin for the PSP, called Game Categories Revised, to the public in our forums. For anyone who missed the previous news article on this fantastic piece of homebrew, here is what it does:
Unlike the previous releases where the user had to enter the VSHMenu to switch between categories, Bubbletune’s fourth revision of his Game Categories plugin for the PSP will now enable the user to choose between two modes; a multiple memory stick icon mode where the XMB displays a memory stick icon for every category, or a selection mode where the user is prompted to choose their category when selecting the memory stick icon in the Game menu.
For more information on the release and a changelog, check out Bubbletune's forum post below.

PSP Game Categories Plugin Updated, Release Soon
by Moose on Jan.26, 2009 at 1:48 pm, under Gaming, PSP Homebrew, PlayStation Portable
After a lengthy wait of one month, Bubbletune has adhered to his promise and notified M for Mature of an upcoming release to his Game Categories plugin for the PSP, named Game Categories Revised.
Unlike the previous releases where the user had to enter the VSHMenu to switch between categories, Bubbletune's fourth revision of his Game Categories plugin for the PSP will now enable the user to choose between two modes; a multiple memory stick icon mode where the XMB displays a memory stick icon for every category, or a selection mode where the user is prompted to choose their category when selecting the memory stick icon in the Game menu.
If you haven't used Bubbletune's Game Category plugin before and find yourself in the position where you have to scroll through over 50 homebrew applications in the Game > Memory Stick menu (oh, the pain), then this is for you. Bubbletune's Game Categories plugin is an effective alternative to using some of the computer-based organisation programs out there for the PSP.
To start, simply create a sub-folder in PSP/GAME and drag and drop your homebrew files into it to create a category! What's better yet is that Game Categories doesn't affect your PSP themes, so you can keep themeing without any trouble.
