The official PlayStation blog just let out word that a PS3 demo of ModNation Racers will be hitting PSN on May 18th. Within the demo you’ll get the opportunity to race in one singleplayer race, race against friends with split-screen multiplayer, design your own cart and even make your own track. You’ll also be able to save your creations from the demo and use them in the retail game when it comes out later this month.

In the previous beta test for the game it was reported by several players that the load times were unbearably long, sometimes clocking in at nearly 4 minutes. United Front Games, the developer of the game, has heard these concerns and improved the loading times for the demo and plan on releasing a post-launch patch to “further optimize” the game.

Skate 3 First Impressions

Feb screen 12 Skate 3 First Impressions

EA recently released a demo for their upcoming game, Skate 3. This revision of the series doesn't bring a whole lot of new features or innovations, but is more focused on customization, team-challenges and a whole new city to skate in. The demo starts off with two unexpected perks; You can change the difficulty and change the camera angle. The difficulty tweaks the physics in the game, making it easier / harder to land tricks while increasing the realism on higher difficulties. The new camera angles bring the original one, and a zoomed out view, with resembles the angle in Skate 2 when being chased.

You are greeted by your trainer, Coach Mike, who guides you through the basics of the game - through to the new tricks such as darkslides and underflips. You also have the option to skip it for those who love to replay the demo. After that you have the option to partake in online play, run through the challenges or free skate.

The gameplay itself isn't too different from previous Skate games. The physics are tweaked in correspondence to your difficulty and the bails are kind of different. If you fall off your board, you can guide your "trip" to try and prevent a bail, which is kind of cool, and looks really neat and realistic in the replay editor. The setting is quite beautiful, with notable lighting and shadow improvements. The demo area consists of a small portion of the cities University. It definitely takes two plays to thoroughly explore the area.

My overall impressions of the game leave me craving more, which is why I was so happy to have stumbled upon this video, which lets you glitch outside of the demo area and explore a much more larger chunk of the city. Check it out and try it for yourself!

 Splinter Cell: Conviction Demo Confirmed

Today Ubisoft released its first part of the Q&A developer videos that it will be slowly rolling out. Ubisoft previously asked users to create video questions for the developers of the game to answer and today marks the first video of answers to those questions. Most of them were trivial questions, not revealing too much about the upcoming game.

However one question and answer did catch out ears: Will there be a demo coming to Xbox Live? The answer is a simply “yes”. There were no other details shared in the video other than the demo will consist of possibly one level. It is unclear whether or not the demo will be a singleplayer or multiplayer demo but I would count on a SP demo showing up sometime early next month.

You can watch the video after the break

Just Cause 2

[Update: The demo is now available on Steam]

The Just Cause 2 demo is now available on both the PSN and XBL stores, clocking in at just over 1gb. Just Cause 2 is the next installment in the Just Cause series which features a large open-world island where you will be tasked with various objectives but are free to go at your own pace and explore at your own leisure. The game extends realism quite a bit, allowing you to wreck havoc in almost anyway thinkable (flying a plane into a military base and eject at the last second). You can queue it up for download on your Xbox 360 with this link if you want to speed up the process.

Feel free to share your experience with the demo in our comments; I'm interested to see what everyone th inks of this game, the first one didn't receive much attention although I thoroughly enjoyed it.
