Microsoft Makes Slight Change to Points Structure (US)
by Justin B on Apr.15, 2010 at 2:07 pm, under Gaming, Xbox 360
Earlier in the week Microsoft made a change to their MS Points structure which allowed points to be purchased in increments of 400 rather than the standard 500 point increment through the Xbox 360. Microsoft has been constantly hounded by people since this system was implemented, leaving many people with left-over points (wasted money) after making purchases that fell short of their purchased amount. You will now be able to buy points in the following denominations: 400, 800, 1600, 4000.

by Justin B on Apr.14, 2010 at 4:00 pm, under Gaming, Xbox 360
Ubisoft just announced that they will be providing free weekly downloadable-content for Splinter Cell: Conviction on Xbox Live starting tomorrow, April 15th. Tomorrow you’ll be able to pick up the MP7A1 machine pistol via the game’s “Extras” in-game menu and eventually more weapons, skins and even a new Deniable Ops map. Ubisoft has not said how long this weekly DLC will go on for, but my guess would be one to two months.

Blur to Receive “Cross-Platform” and XBL Silver Support
by Justin B on Mar.03, 2010 at 2:23 pm, under Gaming, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
At a recent presentation given by Bizarre Creations and Activision discussing their latest creation, Blur, details have been unveiled as to how Twitter would be integrated into the game.
According to the developers, players will be able to “challenge” other players based upon single player accomplishments and stats via Twitter. This will allow for cross-platform challenge support as well as giving Xbox Live Silver users the ability to challenge and accept challenges from other Xbox Live members (gold or silver).
However, Xbox 360 users will still need a Gold account to experience simultaneous online multiplayer (head-to-head). Blur is scheduled to begin in a “closed” beta next Monday and will be released on the 25th in the US and 28th in the UK.

Study Shows Xbox 360 as Most Played Online System
by Justin B on Mar.03, 2010 at 1:45 pm, under Gaming, PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360
In a recent study by the NPD Group it was found that the Xbox 360 is the most played video game console online per week, averaging at 7.3 hours a week. The PC follows in second place with an average of 6.6 hours per week with the PS3 closing in around 5.8 hours. While the 360 sees the most game time per week online, the PC still holds the title for the “most-used system for online gaming, with 85% of online gamers reporting using a PC for online gaming activities”.
This survey was completed by 18,872 individuals ranging from various age groups. While I find this study’s results unsurprising in one sense, I just wonder if they included all those WoW players in the world and Farmville addicts, I’m sure they rack up well over the recommended time spent playing games online (whatever that number may be). It’s also important to note that online gaming, overall, has increased 10% since 2009 and DLC continues to rise as well.
Press release after the break!

The latest issue of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu has revealed the unsurprising revelation that Capcom's retro-fitted Mega Man 10 is indeed a multiplatform title. Decked in 8-bit pixels, it's due out on both PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade alongside the already announced WiiWare release. There's not much else to deduce from the scan, other than the fact Mega Man's brother Protoman will once again be making an appearance in this one.
Still no word on a date, but we'll keep you posted.
